		<description>Delightful, Gayle. Thank you. As for racism, that charge seems both incongruous and wrong. People saw the world and each other very differently then. They were naive and being Chinese was akin to being from a fairy land.  If the child were doing something repugnant, it would be repugnant. But he&#039;s not. He&#039;s performing wonders and his exoticism in this case clearly seems to be a fictional convention to signal fantasy environment and thereby allow for the exceptional to occur.
